1. Modal verbs formulation + 2. Must not & Do not have to
Focus: Grammar fix
Let's review:
1. Formulation of modal verbs and how they're different from ordinary verbs.
2. When we can use 'must' and 'have to' interchangeably, and when we can't.
Watch the two video lessons and do the exercises in both videos several times.
Recommendation: Create a few examples with 'must not' & 'do not have to' in your own contexts. This is the best way of fully understanding a structure and making it reflexive in your speech.
Focus: Dictation
Let's end the week with a dictation to see how well you hear the structures you've activated this week.
Follow these steps:
- Download the ZIP file.
- Listen to the complete Audio once without looking at the PDF transcript.
- Start the Audio again.
- Listen to each sentence two or three times, stop the recording, and write down the sentence.
- Move on to the next sentence.
- When you've written the whole text down, compare your script with the PDF transcript.
When you feel you have fully understood the differences between 'must' and 'have to', take the quiz.
You need to get a minimum score of 80% in each quiz to receive your Certificate of Completion, so repeat the quiz until you score above 80%. You can take each quiz up to 10 times.
Congratulations! You've completed Month 2 and level B2!
Make sure you have a clear understanding of all the grammar topics in B1 & B2 sections before you start the C1 lessons.
Also, expect the sentences you will be repeating to get a little longer.
So, Don't rush! Feel free to spend one or two weeks revising and consolidating what you've already studied in Levels B1 & B2.
You need to have built a strong foundation and a strong ground floor before you can successfully build your second floor!
