Phrasal verbs
Focus: Grammar in action
Phrasal verbs are made from a verb + a preposition: get on, fill in, etc. There's no logic behind the preposition; you just need to learn each verb as one item of vocabulary.
They're common in daily conversations, so it's important that you understand them. But, you don't need to use them yourself all the time . You can always use a synonym to express yourself: get on = progress, fill in = complete.
You'll see many of these verbs in the next few weeks in the Conversation and Vocabulary boost lessons. In this lesson, we'll focus on the grammatical aspects of these verbs.
