Prepositions with basic verbs
Focus: Vocabulary boost
Prepositions follow no rules.
We need to learn the correct preposition at the same time as we learn a new word or phrase.
Let's review and activate some common verbs with the correct preposition.
Step 1:
Watch the video lesson and do the exercises two or three times until you have no hesitation in choosing the correct preposition.
Step 2:
Now, let's test your reflexes!
Can you choose the correct preposition with no hesitation without seeing the sentence on your screen?
Download the ZIP file below, and repeat the exercise using the Audio file without the help of the video or the PDF: Listen, answer, listen, repeat.
Optional:
If listening is your biggest challenge, or if you're finding it difficult to remember the correct preposition, use the Audio file for an additional transcription exercise:
- Listen and write down all the sentences.
- Check what you've written against the PDF transcript.
Step 3:
When you feel you have fully mastered these prepositions, take the quiz.
You need to get a minimum score of 80% in each quiz to receive your Certificate of Completion, so repeat the quiz until you score above 80%. You can take each quiz up to 10 times.
You're almost at the end of your first week of studies!
Recommendation:
Spend some time today and tomorrow revising this week's lessons by:
1. Looking through the notes you made while watching the video lessons
2. Listening to all the audio files one more time
To save time, you can combine the listening part of your revision with another activity: walking, cooking ... any activity that leaves your ears free to enjoy the sounds of English :-)
