Subjunctive
Focus: Grammar in action
The 'Subjunctive Mood' in English doesn't have its own form. In the Present, it's the same as the base verb, and in the Past, it's the same as the Past Simple tense. This can lead to some confusion, so let's make sure you can recognise it when you see or hear it.
When it comes to usage, you can avoid the Present Subjunctive completely, and learn the Past Subjunctive in a few common expressions.
